Country Day

Sunday May 3rd, 2026
12PM - 4PM

Rain -or- Shine

Bring the family and step back in time…

Step back in time as the water wheel turns the millstones, grinding fresh cornmeal just as it has for generations...

Tour the historic Kirby’s Mill and explore the Society’s museum collection, then visit the Blacksmith Shop to watch a blacksmith at work and the Barn to view farm museum exhibits. The Society’s wagons and buggies will also be on display in the Wagon Shed.

Historic crafters will be working throughout the grounds, including basketmaker Gretchen Birdsall, alongside operating antique machinery. Members of the South Jersey Guild of Spinners and Weavers will demonstrate their craft on an antique loom, and the big wheel lathe will be in action in the Cabinetmaker Shop. Young visitors can become “apprentices,” turning the big wheel or trying the mortising machine in the Carpenter Shop.

Civil War camp life and black powder rifle demonstrations will be presented by members of the 12th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry. Local musicians will round out the afternoon with lively folk and Pinelands-style music for a truly immersive day at Kirby’s Mill.

Admission is free.
